Goldie Byrd: A Fresh Approach to Women's Golf Fashion
A women's lifestyle brand to drive a new era of golf fashion
Goldie Byrd, the chic golf fashion brand making waves in the industry, draws inspiration for its debut line from the iconic 1970 photograph 'Poolside Gossip' by Slim Aarons.

In an interview with Forbes, Julia Roper, Goldie Byrd’s co-founder, expressed her delight at the success of their wild cherry red 'everyday' dress, inspired by Aarons's image, which has become their bestselling item and a fan favourite with golfers.
The brand was created when Arielle Solheim, great-granddaughter of Ping founder Karsten Solheim, connected with Julia Roper, a seasoned L.A. fashion industry veteran. With Solheim's deep roots in golf and Roper's fashion expertise, Goldie Byrd was born, aiming to fill the white space in the market for a women-centric golf apparel brand.
Recognizing the surge in female participation in golf, Solheim identified the need for a brand solely focused on women's fit and style. While Ping crossed her mind as a potential springboard, Solheim emphasized the necessity to create a brand exclusively geared toward women, leading to the establishment of Goldie Byrd.
I think this was absolutely the right decision. Being an independent brand allows for a clear identity and the ability to carve out and become a leader in the culture of women’s golf apparel.
Launched in September, Goldie Byrd currently operates as a direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand but has ambitious plans to expand into wholesale channels and collaborate with retailers like Nordstrom, Net-A-Porter, Revolve, and Shopbop. The brand's versatility extends beyond golf, making it suitable for other club sports like tennis and pickleball.
A strategic approach to brand awareness involves influencer marketing, focusing on golfers with a flair for fashion. Looking ahead, Goldie Byrd envisions potential collaborations with pro golfers like Nelly Korda and Charley Hull. Solheim dreams big, envisioning Goldie Byrd as a brand that could one day rival the stature of Ping, drawing inspiration from successful ventures like Vuori.
"I completely believe in the potential of what we are creating. As long as we stick to our strategy and do things the right way, the sky is the limit," Solheim affirmed.
I am a huge fan already. As I’ve mentioned before, I work in the crosssection of sport and fashion and I love how seamlessly the pieces can transition from the course to the clubhouse and into daily life. Goldie Byrd has come out of the gate as a true lifestyle brand that has a clear understanding of golf and fashion. Just look at the editorial photography for example. Props to Julia and Arielle on the creative direction.
I’m looking forward to following the growth. Shop the Collection
