Malbon Golf, renowned for seamlessly blending golf apparel with streetwear, has recently introduced its latest collection, "Westward." Departing from the brand's typical vibrant and graphic-laden designs, this new line embraces a more refined and subdued style, highlighting neutral tones like ivory, navy, evergreen, and brown.
Setting itself apart with a focus on timeless patterns such as tweed, the collection incorporates subtle details that infuse each piece with elegance. In contrast to the vivid patterns of past releases, the Westward collection embraces a heightened aesthetic. This shift not only underscores the brand's adaptability but also its dedication to staying in step with evolving fashion trends in golf apparel.
Expected to resonate with both golf enthusiasts and those with a penchant for fashion, the Malbon Golf Fall/Winter 23 collection is competitively priced between $45 and $180.
The collection is available on Malbon Golf's official website
News from the week
The TGL Golf is postponed until 2025.
Sad news for all involved in the TGL as the recent damage to the facility has caused problems for construction plans meaning the competition will now be delayed until 2025. Thankfully, nobody was injured and it seems that the technology wasn’t impacted.
Statements from key TGL personnel:
Tiger Woods: “I’ve been a believer in TGL, and as the momentum has built this past year, I’m even more excited about what this can become for fans of the game all around the world. Although the events of last week will force us to make adjustments to our timelines, I’m fully confident that this concept will be brought to life by our great committed players.”
Rory McIlroy: “The postponement brings mixed feelings of disappointment and excitement. Above all, we are happy that no one was injured. We are looking forward to the launch of TGL. Given the circumstances, while the delay is disappointing, the postponement will allow us to regroup, refocus and return stronger.”
Mike McCarley, Co-Founder and CEO, TMRW Sports: “We are disappointed with the delay but thankful that no one was injured and grateful for the overwhelming support from our athletes, teams, Palm Beach State College and business partners. Their steadfast belief in the success of TGL and their alignment with the decision to postpone the inaugural season will allow us to regroup and return with the best product possible at our preferred time on the sports calendar.”
I was surprised (although I shouldn’t be by now) to see a lot of comments on social media that were very unsupportive, things like “I’m sure those rich guys will be OK”. What people miss, is that there are a lot of jobs for regular people in projects like this and they’re all impacted. I don’t see why people should ever take satisfaction from others’ misfortunes.
Even for those involved who do have wealth like Tiger and Rory, there is still a lot of time, effort, planning, and finances they have committed to make these things happen and provide entertainment for us. Why their setback is pleasurable to some is beyond me.
McIlroy banks $15,000,000 for the PGA's Player Impact Program
Rory McIlroy is the winner of the PGA Tour’s 2023 Player Impact Program, which came with a handsome $15 million payday. The results were released to players on Wednesday in a memo from PGA Tour VP and chief player officer Jason Gore, a copy of which was published publicly by Nate Lashley.
McIlroy secured two global victories in 2023 and played a pivotal role by contributing four points for the European team, leading them to triumph at the Ryder Cup. Despite his on-course success, McIlroy found himself thrust into the forefront of the tour's resistance against LIV Golf. He openly admitted feeling like a "sacrificial lamb" after the surprising announcement of the tour's framework agreement with LIV's sponsor, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, in June. The news of the PIP victory was announced just a week after McIlroy stepped down from his position on the PGA Tour's policy board.
